SAM9x ARM926™ Core Microcontrollers

Microchip SAM9x ARM926™ Core Microcontrollers are built on the powerful ARM926™ core. Designed to complement the ARM926™ core, these flexible devices deliver a rich combination of peripherals in a highly integrated design. The high bandwidth architecture is based on a multi-layer bus matrix, multiple DMA channels and external bus interface to ensure internal and external data flows with minimum processor overhead. Integrated power management techniques preserve the power budget and reduce BOM cost.

32-bit Microprocessors

Microchip Technology 32-bit Microprocessors (MPUs) are a natural extension of the Microcontroller (MCU) portfolio, and are ideal for use in applications that have outgrown the capabilities of a MCU, require large external memory, or where the use of a Linux Operating System (OS) is desired. Microchip 32-MPUs are based on the Arm®9 and Arm Cortex®-A5 CPUs. They support multiple memory types, including DDR2, DDR3, LPDDR2, LPDDR3, and QSPI and eMMC Flash. The AT91SAM9260 MCU shares the same programming model as ARM7-based controllers, allowing direct migration between controllers based on different ARM cores. The Microchip AT91SAM9261 is an ultra low-power, deterministic MCU based on the ARM926EJ-S processor, with 16K byte instruction and 16K byte data cache memories. Microchip AT91SAM9XE Flash MCUs combine a 200-MIPS ARM926EJ-S processor core with up to 256K bytes of high-performance on-chip Flash.
